There’s plenty else to look forward to at Godiva Festival if you aren’t into your music, as it has a range of activities dedicated to fun the whole family can get involved in.

After Godiva Festival recently announced changes to its site layout and the removal of the dedicated “Family Field”, organisers have confirmed that Godiva Festival will still be offering its much-loved range of activities, such as the petting farm, children’s inflatables and children’s fairground rides, spread across the whole site.

The Make Space Tent and Lives & Times and Greenspace area will be back this year, bringing fun things to create and play with and a range of local interest groups to chat to, including beekeepers, woodworkers and thatchers. Circus performers will be performing in front of the Make Space Tent on Saturday and Sunday, allowing you to try your hand at juggling and plate-spinning. Brand new this year is a falconry display with the birds of prey taking flight across the Godiva Festival fields!

The Vintage in the Village Tent will also return this year, delivered by FarGo Village, offering a vintage market and a retro-themed diner experience. Families can also use the Cycle Speedway, racing around a short course on bikes. Coventry’s UK City of Culture 2021 Team will also be on hand to promote cultural activity in the lead up to 2021 and sought-after freebies!

Attendees can also find the Youth Network Zone, with its ‘Bring The Noise’ stage, featuring music and advice for young people in the city across a range of issues affecting and engaging young people including health, employment and personal safety.

Also confirmed for Saturday’s Main Stage is Andy and the Odd Socks, a children’s band who sing about all sorts of things, from aliens and dinosaurs to rapping robots – even a groovy hoover! Don’t forget to bring your odd socks!

A wide range of promotional and charity stalls will be across the site, including a variety of food stalls to suit every palate, as well as fun stalls for glitter tattoos, face painting and more.

Cabinet Member for Events, Councillor Abdul Khan, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer the wonderful range of family fun that we usually offer to those who attend Godiva Festival. We’re the UK’s biggest free family music festival, so we wanted to ensure that our family offer is really strong.”

“We’ve also announced Andy and the Odd Socks for the Main Stage, which is fantastic and they’re the first children’s band scheduled to perform on Godiva Festival’s Main Stage.”

“There’s truly something for everyone at this year’s festival!”

Godiva Festival 2018 will take place from 31 August – 2 September in the city’s War Memorial Park.

Coventry Godiva Festival is brought to you by Coventry City Council, in association with Free Radio and Jaguar Land Rover and supported by Coventry UK City of Culture 2021, Coventry University, Fargo and BBC Coventry & Warwickshire.
